Dr. Weiping Dai, Ph.D., P.E., C.M.

Weiping Dai currently serves as Principal Consultant in Trinity Consultants’ Dallas Office as well as the General Manager for Trinity’s BREEZE Software, Data, and Services Division and China Operations.  Dr. Dai is also an adjunct professor at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) and teaches the senior/graduate level environmental program courses in air quality management and engineering as well as aerosol science. Dr. Dai is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas and a Certified Manager.

Dr. Dai received his Ph.D. specialized in environmental engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999.   He has authored more than 25 technical publications focusing on various specialty applications of advanced dispersion modeling techniques. His expertise and experience covers air quality management and engineering, air quality modeling (including near-field, long-range transport and offshore operations impact analyses), accidental release modeling (toxic, fire, and explosion impacts), regional-scale photochemical modeling, emission control strategies related to ozone and PM2.5 nonattainment issues, control technology analyses, air quality permitting, EHS compliance analysis/audit, industrial risk management, health risk assessment, process safety management, risk management planning and hazard assessment, regulatory compliance analysis, emissions quantification, and litigation support. In particular, Dr. Dai is a leading consultant at Trinity in managing/performing urban/regional scale modeling analyses (e.g., photochemical modeling and MM5/WRF mesoscale data modeling) as well as technical analysis/critical review of ozone/PM2.5 nonattainment related issues. Dr. Dai has extensive experience applying various air quality models such as CALPUFF, AERMOD, ISCST3, ISC-PRIME, CAL3QHC, CAL3QHCR, CALINE4, HARP, SCREEN3, OCD, FDM, OBODM, LNGFire/Source5, DEGADIS, SLAB, INPUFF, HGSYSTEM, PHAST, and ALOHA.  Dr. Dai is an instructor for many environmental regulatory and technical courses provided by Trinity.


Dr. Xueqing Eric Zhu, Ph.D., P.E.

Xueqing Eric Zhu is a Senior Scientist in the Department of Water Quality and Research at Louisville Water Company (LWC), USA. He received his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 2000. He joined LWC in October 2006. His current major research areas include advance water treatment technologies (e.g., ozonation and riverbank filtration), occurrence and mitigation of contaminants of emerging concerns (CECs) in drinking water, and distribution system water quality issues (e.g., nitrification and corrosion control). Before joining LWC, Dr. Zhu also had over ten years of professional and research experience in water/wastewater treatment and remediation of contaminated environment. Dr. Zhu has published 20 peer-reviewed journal papers, book chapters and government agency guidance documents, including two USEPA guidelines on bioremediation of oil contaminated marine shorelines and freshwater wetlands.  Dr. Zhu is a member of American Water Works Associate (AWWA) and a Project Advisory Committee member for Water Research Foundation (WaterRF). He has been a registered professional engineer since 2002.


Dr. Song Yan, Ph.D.

Song Yan is currently working as a research associate at Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Eau, Terre et Environnement, Université du Québec, Canada. Dr. Yan’s research focuses on: the production of bioplastics, biodiesel, value added products using wastewater and sludge; greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater and sludge (biosolids) treatment processes; and wastewater and sludge treatment process control. Dr. Yan has published 38 papers in refereed journals and14 papers in conference proceedings. She is author of 40 book chapters and 2 scientific reports. She has attended 33 national and international conferences, and also has submitted 99 gene sequences to GenBank, USA. She was selected as an Outstanding Reviewer of the ASCE’s Journal of Environmental Engineering in 2012, and is the member of Canadian Association for Water Quality (CAWQ) and International Water Association (IWA).


Dr. V. Prakash Reddy, Ph.D

V. Prakash Reddy received M.Phil. in Chemistry from University of Hyderabad, India, and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He has had a distinguished academic career for over 20 years, and is an internationally recognized scientist, scholar and teacher. He was an honorary member of the Golden Key National Honor Society at Case Western Reserve University. In recent years, at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, he has graduated many Ph.D. students who are well established in their academic and/or industrial careers. He has held many NASA Faculty Fellow awards from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology.

Dr. Prakash Reddy is in the Editorial Board of over five international journals. He has published over 80 peer reviewed articles, and gave many invited presentations at the national and international conferences. His research is focused on the interdisciplinary areas in synthetic organic, materials, and bioorganic and medicinal chemistry. He has also contributed to lithium ion and metal air batteries and developed environmentally benign, high voltage electrolytes. He is an internationally recognized expert in superacids, catalysis, green chemistry, reactive intermediates, and organofluorine chemistry.


Dr. Manish Kumar Goyal, Ph.D.

Manish Kumar Goyal is presently working as a faculty in Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, India. Earlier, he worked at McGill University, Montreal Canada and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. Dr. Goyal is actively involved in teaching and research in different areas such as water resources modeling, snowmelt hydrology, Climate change, and extreme events analysis and soil carbon sequestration. He has authored more than 50 technical publications, including 3 book chapters, 35 refereed (peer-reviewed) journal articles, 14 national and international conferences. Recently, he was awarded The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship Program to pursue research at University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. Earlier, he was awarded Young Scientist Award from APEC Climate Centre, Busan, Republic of Korea and he was also recipient of Canadian commonwealth scholarship award to pursue research at University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Goyal is the member of editorial board of about half a dozen journals. He has been a peer reviewer for more than 60 papers in about 20 international journals including Journal of Hydrology and International Journal of Climatology.


Dr. Yu Chang Lai, Ph.D., P.E., DEE, F.ASCE

Yu Chang Lai is Associate Technical Specialist, Hsinchu Science Park Administration, Taiwan. Dr. Lai received his B.S, M.S, and Ph.D degrees from Hua-Chung University, Chu-Hua University, and National Sun Yat-Sen University, respectively. His expertise is in soil and groundwater remediation and watershed management. He has over ten year’s professional experience.


Assoc. Prof. Ou-Wen Sheng, Ph.D

Dr. Wen-Sheng Ou is an Associate Professor in National Chin-Yi University of Technology, and he received his B.S degree from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, M.S and Ph.D degrees from National Cheng-Kung University 2000 and 2005, respectively. His main specialization is in design of green buildings and energy conservation.  He has many publications in refereed journals and at national and international conferences.


Assoc. Prof. Ku-Fan Chen, Ph.D

Dr. Ku-Fan Chen received the B.S. degree in environmental science from Tunghai University, Taichung, Taiwan, in 1999, and the M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in environmental engineering from National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 2001 and 2006, respectively. From 2005 to 2006, he visited the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University, PA, USA, as a visiting scholar. In 2008, he joined the Department of Civil Engineering, National Chi Nan University (NCNU), Taiwan, and is currently an Associate Professor. Prior to joining NCNU, he worked for the Apollo Technology Co., Ltd., Taiwan, a company devoted to soil and groundwater remediation, as a Deputy Project Manager. Dr. Chen is a member of the International Water Association (IWA), the Chinese Institute of Environmental Engineering, and the Taiwan Association of Soil and Groundwater Protection. His research interests include soil and groundwater remediation, environmental nanotechnology, environmental molecular biotechnology, water resource and watershed management, and noise assessment and control. He has authored more than 80 technical publications, including 2 patents and 25 refereed (peer-reviewed) journal articles.


Dr. Chuan-Chi Chien. Ph.D.

Chuan-Chi Chien is a senior researcher at Clean Energy and Eco-system Center, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan. Dr. Chien’s research projects include development of green agricultural materials and application on soil-plant health management, water treatment and air pollution purification use biochar and wood vinegar. Personally in biochar research and applications is possessed of great interest and self-confidence, therefore development of series products about agriculture and water treatment for example, green soil improve of materials, high efficiency of biologics, green pesticides and eco-RBC (Rotating Biological Contactor) system. Dr. Chien has received eight awards and honors, including the “Award of Technology Service of Industrial Technology Research Institute (2013)”, “Who’s Who in the World (2012, Marquis Who’s Who)”, and he also serves as the reviewer for many journals. He was once an adjunct assistant professor and researcher fellow in four universities in Taiwan and Hawaii of university (USA). He had eight professional certificates about environmental engineering and soil science. Currently, he serves, or has served on 4 national and international affiliate members including the IWA (International Water Association), ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), IEM (International Eco-material Association) and Tasgep (Taiwan Association of Soil and Groundwater Environmental Protection) in 2010 to present. He has authored more than 97 technical publications, including 3 patents, 26 journal articles, 11 conference papers, and 47 technical reports.


Dr. Puspendu Bhunia, Ph.D.

Puspendu Bhunia is an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar in the Department of Civil Engineering under the School of Infrastructure. He came to the Indian Institute of Technology from the Eau Terre Environnement research center of Institut national de la recherche scientifique, QC, Canada, where he was a postdoctoral researcher. He received his Ph.D. and M.Tech. Degrees in Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He received his B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, India. His research focuses on aerobic and anaerobic treatments of domestic and industrial wastewater, emphasizing the implementation of decentralized treatment concepts in remediating environmental contaminants. He has authored several technical publications in refereed (peer-reviewed) journal articles, book chapters, and presented several talks at national and international conferences.
